I’ve always wanted a blog where I just wrote things about myself, how I’m feeling and what’s going on in my life.
What a narcissist, right? Not really what I was going for, haha.
I’ve had a Tumblr blog for years and although it’s nice to reblog posts you relate to and pretty pictures that others have posted, I found that I couldn’t really put as much of me into it as I wanted to.
Whenever I thought about blogging on sites like WordPress, Blogger, etc, I thought of it as kind of lonely and almost outdated.
The way social media works nowadays, you make an account on a site and then find yourself constantly bombarded with all types of information. From the daily news and events to new styles and trends. New music, new tweets, new pics, new this, new that – it all goes so fast. You become used to refreshing your feed and seeing so many people writing and posting about so many things per minute that when you think about singular daily or weekly blog posts you think, why would I want to do that when I’m all updated and have so much fun keeping up with things on all these other sites?
That is until you start to develop anxiety like I did and have to turn off all notifications from social media apps because the constant beeping and floating banners from your phone started to make your head and your heart hurt.
I found that in that environment, I was taking in so much of others that I couldn’t put out much of my own into the world and that didn’t feel good.
I’ve realized that blogging for me is less about pictures and likes and more about self reflection, education and discovery and using that knowledge to better my life and the lives of those around me. So this blog is my way of giving back to myself by getting it all out.
And I have so much to say.
You’re more than welcome to join me on my journey of self love and discovery. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I will.
